Gotham by Gaslight, a graphic novel widely regarded as one of the best alternate universe superhero stories, could have been a video game.  The Elseworlds masterpiece follows Batman as he chases down a Joker-inspired Jack the Ripper in 1889 Gotham.  Artist Julie Farrell had created art to help pitch the game a while back, and it showed up online a few weeks ago.  Her steampunk vision really makes you wonder what could have been.  Check out the pictures after the jump.
