The Prometheus trailer

After seeing The Avengers on opening weekend, I can’t get the Prometheus trailer out of my head.  Let’s get it stuck in your head, too.

Prometheus hits the big screen on June 8, 2012.

Get Dishonored this October

After however many months it’s been since its release, I just noticed that there is a little Dishonored flyer in the Skyrim box, and while, I’m still not quite sure what Dishonored is about, I am strangely excited.

Oddly enough, my discovery of the months old flyer happens to coincide with the announcement of a release date for the game.  That right, the steam punk-looking game about being assassinating folk will be out this October on the 9th.  It will be on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.  Unfortunately, the Bethesda Blog is listing Games for Windows as the only digital distributor.  As a Steam user, that’s a bummer, but maybe that part of the announcement just hasn’t come yet. Fingers crossed.

Investment firm predicts GTA V will launch in October

Wedbush Securities, who has one of my favorite buildings in downtown Los Santos Los Angeles, is predicting that Grand Theft Auto V will be released in October of this year.

They believe that the Bioshock Infinite postponement was requested by Irrational Games just as Rockstar was telling Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of both Irrational and Rockstar, that Grand Theft Auto V would be ready in October.  This would allow Take-Two to still have a major holiday release, and it would give Irrational the time they need to finish Bioshock Infinite. Along with that reasoning, Wedbush cites the fact that all past GTA games had been slated for October launches.  The only one that didn’t actually get that October launch was Grand Theft Auto IV, and that’s because of glitches in the PS3 version.

PS4 and Xbox 720 coming home for Christmas?

For whatever reason, we still insist on calling the current generation of gaming consoles “next gen”, so I’m not completely sure what to call the actual next generation of gaming consoles.  Regardless, VG247 is reporting that the PS4 and Xbox 720 are just around the corner and scheduled for a Christmas release.  Part of this big rumor is that the PS4 will use the PS Vita as an optional controller to create a gaming experience much like that we saw from the Wii U and its controller.  As interesting as that sounds, I can’t help but look back at all of the broken promises of awesome PS3 to PSP connectivity.  Combine that with Sony’s ridiculous attempts at motion controls with the Sixaxis and weak-selling Move, and I can’t help but feel like they should be innovating instead of playing catchup, especially when you consider just how amazing the the .

Another big component to these rumors is that the PS4 is expected to abandon the Cell processor for a more PC-like setup from AMD.  I predict that the next Xbox and PS4 will be almost identical on the spec sheet.  The winner in the next console war will be whoever provides the best services on their consoles in addition to gaming at launch.  I also think lightning won’t strike twice for Nintendo with the Wii U.

Skyrim 1.5 Information

The Skyrim 1.5 patch is set to be released soon for everyone, but right now PC gamers using Steam can download the 1.5 beta.  Details after the jump.

For Fans of fun.

Whether you know it or not, if you’re an American you’ve almost certainly heard the song “We Are Young” by the band fun. because the song was featured in one of Chevy’s Super Bowl ads for the 2012 Sonic and has continued to run on air and online since then.  Until a little while ago I had only heard the chorus because it’s the part of the song you hear in the commercial.  Then this morning I heard the beginning and was really excited The Format was getting airplay until the chorus started.  After a quick Google search, I found that The Format stopped making music in 2008 and lead vocalist Nate Ruess is now with fun..

fun.’s album Some Nights drops one week from today on the 21st.  And no.  I haven’t gone crazy.  They write it “fun.” with the period and everything.

If you like fun. you’ll like The Format.  Check out some of their songs after the break.

Skyrim 1.4 Patch for PS3 Out Now

Kiss your weekend goodbye.  The 1.4 patch for Skyrim is finally out for PS3.  Patch notes on the other side.

Skyrim 1.4 Patch on Xbox Now, Expected on PS3 Soon

The 1.4 patch for Skyrim is out now for Xbox 360.  The PS3 version is still lagging behind.  I’ve read posts saying it should be out today and others that say it will.  I’m just going to say that I’d be surprised if it wasn’t out within 24 hours.  Either way, my weekend will probably consumed with Skyrim.  I haven’t touched it in a while because I’ve been waiting for the patch.  Instead, I’ve been replaying Red Dead Redemption.

Nazis from the Moon

I could watch movies like “Ghostbusters” and “Evolution” in an endless loop.  The combination of sci-fi, action and comedy is pretty much all of my favorite movie genres wrapped up in to one.  I like others, but if I’m looking for pure entertainment value, that is where I go.  In “Iron Sky” Nazis set up a secret base on the dark side of the moon after making huge advances in anti-gravity technology in 1945.  In 2018, their descendents return to earth to conquer the world.  Naturally, the good people who made “Iron Sky” will be getting their hands on my hard earned cash on opening weekend.  See what I mean by watching the trailer after the jump

Skyrim update 1.4 now on Steam, to be submitted to Microsoft and Sony this week

Last month we heard from Bethesda’s Twitter account that the PS3 patch for Skyrim would be coming in January.  It’s February now and there is still no patch for PS3 or Xbox.  The good news is that there is a patch for PC, so we know the patch is ready.  Bethesda says the PS3 and Xbox 360 patches are going to be submitted for review by the console makers this week and will be available shortly.  I’d expect to see Skyrim patched on both consoles within two weeks.
